Our Beliefs
“In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
Mount Hermon Baptist Church teaches long-held and biblical Christian beliefs, including:
- Belief in one triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
- God’s creation of a good world
- Human sinfulness, and God’s faithfulness and salvation
- The incarnation of Jesus: fully God and fully human
- His perfect life, suffering death on the cross, and resurrection on the third day
- His coming again at the last day
- The Spirit’s inspiration of the Bible, sanctifying of believers, and calling together of the church
We believe what Christians throughout the ages have proclaimed and held dear. These essentials are vital.
We also recognize there are many areas where Christians disagree. We do not have a hyper-detailed confessional statement approved by the whole congregation. Some of our closest denominational partners affirm the 1963 Baptist Faith & Message, which serves as a general expression of what many (though not all) Baptists believe.
